Dora Kallmus was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1881.  With Arthur Benda, Dora opened a photography studio under the pseudonym Madame d'Ora in Vienna in 1907.  She was popular among the Austrian-Hungarian aristocracy, and worked as a salon photographer until she left Vienna for Paris in 1925.  In Paris, she became internationally known for society and fashion photography during the 1930s and 1940s.  Dora photographed Josephine Baker, Tamara de Lempicka, Alban Berg, Niddy Impekoven, Maurice Chevalier, Colette, and other dancers, actors, painters, and writers.

Under The Root had such an honor of connecting with sisters Joanna Kilkelly and Kohii Love from WILD FIRE Magazine for their Issue Two in November 2012.  The Australian, vegan, fair trade, lifestyle of well being magazine is free and online.  This mag is jam packed with extraordinary images, thoughtful recipes, child lore, and tips for extending our healthy life styles into the next leap.  Above are images from Issue Two, a peek at this natural connection with Mother Earth as seen by the full hearted.

The images above were found from this traveling midway, just when times are showing through our knickers.  The set design is from One Hat One Hand, M.T. Pockets' Traveling Midway of Curiosities and Delights is their name, fun must be their game.  The richness of these photos and the noise from their travels are sure to be a welcomed landscape view among our land here in Northern America.

Now over in Japan, however, another prospect for ingenuity has gathered and I am shivering a bit from the seams.  Those tiny earthquakes are of love, elven, and the myths up to the tips of my goosebumps.  A few images to pull up your boots.  There is Mori Girl and now Yama Girl.. a disco ball of cooler colors right alongside vibrant reins of starlight brights.  Fashions leading back to nature and possibly finding those moments in webs of peace to prance back to society, culture, and zen.  I believe in freedom of expression and to me, this is delightful, artistic, as cords of mother earth sing.

Reclaim to Wear is such a unique and quality team of humankind for the planet.  "The concept of Reclaim To Wear was first introduced by From Somewhere, the pioneering eco fashion label started in 1997 by Orsola de Castro and Filippo Ricci, as a way to design beautiful clothes made entirely from discarded materials and remnants, such as stock, designer surplus and production off-cuts."

"Reclaim To Wear aims to act as a design standard of excellence, creating new opportunities for textile, fashion and retail companies to collaborate with key opinion makers and designers in order to upcycle and reuse surplus waste and introduce creative design solutions to their waste management systems."

I think it was 2009 when I ran across a journal of this artist named
Swampy.. maybe it was a Flickr account.  His story about finding
himself lost was breathtaking.  The image above is from the images
that swirled around from him.  And then it struck me, what an
absolute truth of where we are right now, lost.
Today I did a search for his name and found what has happened..
check it.

It looks like this has just happened in Berkeley, California.  Art,
street art, everlasting rainbows.

I and thousands of others witnessed the concrete and steel ruin
that is Carbon Warehouse in the old Flint Ink building at
1350 Fourth Street, Berkeley return to technicolor life as a free,
underground art gallery.
For hours, we gawked at the fabulous graffiti that covered close
to every inch of the building, with music, beer and wine,
and an electric atmosphere that should make world art hubs
like London, Berlin and Venice blush.
Because, on that night, Berkeley appeared talented, fearless
and exciting, and in a humble, inclusive way, a bastion of public art."

bloody mary and a bicycle

One of my closest friends and confidants in the whole world was
sharing more of her story, in this life, with me a couple nights ago.
She said that maybe if I can share more of my lifestyle across the
world, maybe it will pull a direction of what the hell to do with
this life right now.  I will work on it.. it's not always joy joy over 
here, surrealism is so much more fun even if it's dirty.  My life, what
the hell is it and who the hell cares.  So I have done and continue
to struggle and do, yes, I do things.
Which brings me to the image of the girl on the bike.  A metaphor
for the intensity sometimes.. it captures, perfectly.

• bicycle too large yet riding is so free it does not matter,
  she may fall off but damnit she will ride it with integrity
  and sometimes a giggle

• short hair

• dirty face and awake eyes

• pink shirt with jumper, mary janes and orange knee highs

What I can say is that I will work on sharing the bobbles, quirks, 
rushes of enthusiasm and tyranny of restraints, filtered or unfiltered
humour, corners, theory, bloody mary, and of course the disco ball.
