a menagerie of cards

This year marks quite a moment of personal homage for the past 20 years of reading tarot cards.  I decided to check into what is happening in the art world with the deck of cards, as of late.  My heart skipped a beat when the above images floated into view.  The Fantastic Menagerie Tarot is based on the illustrations of 19th century French illustrator, J.J. Grandville.  He has been known as the "Father of Surrealism".  The deck was published by The Magic Realist Press, March 2006.  Sophie NusslĂ© has a companion book with this deck too.

My first deck of cards was the original Rider-Waite imagery and I still use it to this day.

Along the journey to peek into the world of these playing cards, some surprising sites are dedicated to the readings, the art, and all the facets along with fortune telling.. absolutely outrageous and stunningly gorgeous.
