Voyons Voir with Ryan McGinley MUSE Artwork (Winter 2009)
Photography above from exhibition at Team Gallery entitled Irregular Regulars
McGinley had his first public exhibition in 2000 at 420 West Broadway in Manhattan in a DIY opening. His first book of photos, The Kids Are Alright (2002), was handmade and distributed to people he respected in the art world and sold at the exhibition. One of these books was given to Sylvia Wolf who ushered his work onto the walls of the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Among the numerous means of expression open to him, Brassaï chose photography as it allowed him to capture the atmosphere of the Parisian nights for which he became famous. Henry Miller called Brassaï a "living eye". Paris became a theatre set where the subject dominates the composition, in which he captured a dimension that lay between journalistic account and poetic vision. The graffiti engraved on the walls captured the attention of this photographer obsessed by the reality of man and matter. "The surrealism of my images was nothing more than reality rendered fantastic by the way I saw it".
Going Home to Roost
"my name is bonnie and going home to roost is a daily inspiration blog that focuses on design and style, handmade artisans, designers, eco indieprenuers, and a more organic way of life."
Bonnie contacted Under The Root to link her Monday - The Sensual Side of Etsy.
"I never set out to be an eco-fashion writer. I don’t consider myself particularly trendy. Fashion, Evolved was born in April 2008 after a tangent sent me on hours of unproductive internet surfing for eco-fashion websites and blogs. The pickings were indeed slim, and in a flash of inspiration I realized that this was a subject I could write about to make a real contribution to the environmental movement.
As I started researching and interviewing different independent “green” designers, I realized that very few of them were making the big bucks with their lines. In fact, many of them are working on their clothing or jewelry along with a second job to support themselves and their vision. Yet, they pushed forward, spurred on the passion for what they believe in: beautiful, tasteful, artistic style that does not compromise ethics or the health and well-being of our environment. Their stories are inspiring and their enthusiasm is infectious."
